The transmitter injects a signal onto the circuit which can be detected by the receiver. The receiver will beep and its green LED will ??ash when the signal is detected. The sensitivity of the receiver can be adjusted in order to pinpoint the exact circuit breaker or fuse protecting the selected circuit.
